general information
Before You Complete a Grant Application, Please Take Advantage of Our RAPID Line!

Interest in funding for medical education initiatives continues to grow. Recently, we have experienced increases in the volume of grant applications, the size and scope of programs, and the level of support provided by our organization. As a result, budgets for some areas of educational interest are being depleted more rapidly than anticipated.

Because we want to keep our prospective grant applicants informed, and in recognition of the value of your time required to complete an application for funding, we are pleased to direct you to the MEGO RAPID (Rapid Assessment of Potential Interest & Direction) Line. The RAPID Line will enable you to obtain a "quick read" on your proposed grant request. Here's how it works:

  1. Call 877-AZGRANT (877-294-7268).
  2. A member of the MEGO staff will ask you to provide the following information
    • Your Name
    • Organization Name and Type
    • Program Topic
    • Program Type
    • Program Date
    • Amount Requested
  3. You will be given immediate feedback if possible; otherwise, you will receive a return phone call.  The RAPID feedback will be one of two options:
    • Your program would not receive funding at this time. We do not recommend submission of a grant application.
    • Your program is consistent with our current areas of educational interest and available funding. We recommend that you submit a grant application.

Please note that a RAPID decision will have no bearing on whether or not your grant request will be funded. Your grant application will be evaluated in accordance with all established guidelines and policies.

The AstraZeneca Medical Education Grants Office (MEGO) is responsible for the approval and processing of independent medical education grant requests. The following brochure explains the independent education grants process.

The On-line Application Process
An on-line Grant Application Form and complete instructions can be found on this site. In order to expedite your grant request, we encourage the use of the on-line process. With our on-line system, you can save a grant and complete it at another time.

Please note that completed applications, including all supporting documentation, must be submitted at least 45 business days prior to the date you need to receive a funding decision regarding your grant application. Each application is given careful consideration as part of a rigorous evaluation by our Medical Education Review Team. Accordingly, it may take up to five weeks, perhaps longer for more complex requests, for you to receive a decision regarding your application.

Please also note that MEGO does not accept requests for charitable contributions. However, you can go here for information about charitable contributions.
